Grit is an independent photography publication, built for pictures that deserve to be looked at properly. Every story pairs a considered edit of photographs with the notes that came with them: where the frame was made, what the light was doing, and why the walk was worth taking.

It is written for photographers who carry a camera on ordinary days, and for readers who would rather spend ten quiet minutes with six good frames than scroll past a hundred forgettable ones. There are no feeds, no counts to chase and no advertising. Each story is laid out to be read once, slowly, on a phone at the end of the day or on a large screen with the lights down.

The archive gathers every photograph published here in one place, so a single frame can be opened full size and followed back to the story it belongs to. Stories are kept online rather than replaced, which means the collection gets deeper rather than louder over time.

Everything is made by one person in the studio: shooting, sequencing, writing and the small amount of code that holds it together. Photographs remain the property of the person who made them, and nothing here is sold, syndicated or used to train anything.
